João Piedade is an Assistant Professor and member of the School Council, member of the Education and Training Research and Development Unit (UIDEF) of the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon. Member of the Competence Centre in Technology and Innovation and Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the Master in Teaching Informatics. His academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Education - Information and Communication Technologies in Education (2017), a Master in Technologies and Methodologies in Elearning (2010), and graduation in Computer Science Engineering (2006). He is the author or co-author of peer-reviewed papers published in journals and national and international conferences in Digital Technologies in Education, K-12 Computer Science Education, Computational Thinking and Informatics Didactics and Pedagogy.
João Piedade is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Education, University of Lisbon (IEUL), and a researcher at the Education and Training Research and Development Unit (UIDEF). He serves as a member of the School Council and in the Competence Center in Technology and Innovation at IEUL. Additionally, he coordinates the Scientific Committee of the Master's program in Teaching Informatics.
He holds a Ph.D. in Education with a focus on Information and Communication Technologies in Education (2017), a Master's in Technologies and Methodologies in eLearning (2010), and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering (2006). João began his teaching career in 2004, teaching in elementary and secondary schools in the computer science field. Since 2010, he has been involved in initial teacher training programs at the Institute of Education and in the Master's in Digital Technologies in Education and the Doctoral Programme in ICT in Education.
His research interests encompass Technology-enhanced Learning, Online Learning, Initial Teacher Training in Informatics, Computer Science Education, Tangible Object Programming, Computational Thinking, Artificial Intelligence in Education, and Learning Scenario Design. He is also the author or co-author of more than 80 peer-reviewed papers, books and chapters published in national and international journals, conference proceedings and scientific publishers. He has supervised 1 Post-Doc Project, 2 PhD Thesis and over 40 master dissertations and reports.
